Real customer reviews

Sujata R.Sanepa, Lalitpur★★★★★

Genuinely quiet at night. We run it on the bedroom setting and forget it's there until the app shows it working harder during a bad-AQI evening.

Rojan T.Baneshwor, Kathmandu★★★★★

Bought this after my daughter's allergist recommended a HEPA purifier for her room. Covers the room and the hallway outside it comfortably.

Prakash M.Pokhara★★★★★

Ordered ahead of the winter smog and it's been worth every rupee. The app notification when AQI spikes outside is the feature I didn't know I needed.

Anisha K.Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur★★★★☆

Does exactly what it says. Only reason it's not five stars is delivery took a day longer than promised, unit itself is excellent.

Bikash S.Office purchase, Kathmandu★★★★★

We ordered two for our office floor after staff kept complaining about the AC dust. Noticeably fresher air within a day, and the VAT invoice process was painless.

Sabina G.Chitwan★★★★★

Was worried about coverage since our living room is fairly open-plan, but it keeps up fine even on the medium setting.

What the Blueair Classic 680i gives you

Room size

Cleans a very large room in about 12.5 minutes

It is made for rooms up to 775 sq ft, like an open-plan floor, a studio or a basement. All the air in a room that size passes through the filter about every 12.5 minutes, which is 4.8 full air changes an hour. CADR, the clean air it makes each hour, is 850 m³/h for dust and smoke and 1,088 m³/h for pollen.

  • Rooms up to 775 sq ft
  • 850 m³/h CADR for dust and smoke

Auto mode

Set it once and it speeds up and slows down by itself

In Auto mode the built-in sensors read the air and the fan follows it, so you do not keep changing the speed. When the air is clean it runs slowly and quietly. When dust or gases rise it speeds up. The panel lights show PM2.5 (fine dust) and VOC (gases) readings, and you can still pick speed 1, 2 or 3 yourself.

  • PM2.5 and VOC lights on the panel
  • Auto mode or three manual speeds

Quiet

Quiet enough on low to leave running in the room

On the lowest speed it makes 32 dB(A), about the level of a quiet library. Only the highest speed is loud, at 62 dB(A), and you need it only for a quick clean-up. HEPASilent filtration charges the dust so it sticks to a light filter, which lets the fan move a lot of air without working hard.

  • 32 dB(A) on low, 62 dB(A) on high
  • Night mode schedule in the app

Low running cost

About Rs 228 a month in electricity, a little more than a ceiling fan

Run it 8 hours a day on full speed and the electricity is about Rs 228 a month (100 W, 24 units at Rs 9.50). On low it uses only 15 W, about Rs 34 a month. Add the Rs 22,500 filter, changed every 6 months, and the total is about Rs 3,978 a month.

  • 100 W on full speed, 15 W on low
  • Rs 3,978 a month with the filter

One filter to change, and we keep it in stock

Blueair says to change the particle filter about every 6 months. The app and the filter light tell you when. The Blueair filter for the 680i costs Rs 22,500 and we hold genuine stock in Nepal, with delivery across the country.

  • Change about every 6 months
  • Replacement filter Rs 22,500, in stock

App and Alexa

Control it from your phone or with your voice

Wi-Fi is built in. Use the Blueair app to switch it on and off, change the speed or turn on Auto mode from another room, and ask Alexa to do the same. The app also sets a child lock, a night mode schedule and the brightness of the panel lights.

What it costs to run each month

Worked out at the highest fan speed, 8 hours a day. On Auto and the lower speeds it costs less.

Questions about this model

Answers before you send an order request.

What room size is the Classic 680i for?

It is made for rooms up to 775 sq ft, such as an open-plan floor, a studio or a basement. It changes all the air in a room that size about every 12.5 minutes. In a smaller room it works faster, so you can run it on a lower speed and keep it quiet. For a room up to 434 sq ft, the Classic 480i is enough.

Is it quiet enough to run at night?

On the lowest speed it makes 32 dB(A), close to a quiet library. The highest speed is 62 dB(A) and is much louder. For night use, set the speed low or set a night mode schedule in the Blueair app. Auto mode raises the fan only when the air needs it.

How much electricity does it use?

On full speed it uses 100 W, a little more than a ceiling fan, and on low only 15 W. Running 8 hours a day on full speed, 100 W x 8 hours x 30 days is 24 units, so the electricity costs about Rs 228 a month at Rs 9.50 a unit. Add the filter (Rs 22,500 every 6 months) and the total is about Rs 3,978 a month. Check your own bill with the electricity cost calculator.

How often do I change the filter, and what does it cost?

Blueair says about every 6 months, depending on your air. The filter light and the app tell you when it is due. The filter for the Classic 680i (500 and 600 series) is Rs 22,500 and we keep genuine filters in stock in Nepal.

What is the difference between the 680i, 480i and 405?

Size and power. The 680i cleans rooms up to 775 sq ft with 850 m³/h of clean air for dust. The Classic 480i and the Classic 405 are for rooms up to 434 sq ft with 510 m³/h. The 480i has sensors and Auto mode, the 405 has neither. See all of them in the Classic series.
